On the occasion of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Adha, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Cyber Team has arranged special surveillance for online cattle markets to prevent cyber fraud and ensure security at the physical cattle markets in the capital.

DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman made these remarks on Friday in response to a question about the security measures the DMP takes in the cattle markets. He spoke at a press conference at the DMP Media Center on Minto Road in the capital.

In addition to physical cattle markets, many buyers have purchased cattle online for several years. Addressing them, the DMP Commissioner said that the DMP’s Cyber Team will monitor online cattle markets. He also requested buyers to purchase cattle online with caution and awareness.

Habibur Rahman mentioned that there will be coordination among those working at the cattle markets in Dhaka (including volunteers, market lessees, and law enforcement personnel).

The Detective Branch (DB) teams will remain vigilant regarding ‘Oggayan Party’ and ‘Malam Party’ at the cattle markets. If such gang members are seen at or around the markets, they will be brought under the law immediately. Necessary measures have been taken regarding counterfeit money. Discussions have been held with the Bangladesh Bank, which has agreed to place counterfeit money detection machines at the cattle markets.

The DMP Commissioner stated that detectives would be present to ensure the security of those buying and selling cattle.

Highway police will provide security for those bringing cattle to Dhaka by truck from outside the city, and river police will ensure security for those bringing cattle by boat. Additionally, drone patrolling will be conducted at the cattle markets.

The DMP Commissioner requested that market lessees adhere to the specified amounts to prevent them from charging more than the fixed fees. He assured that there would be a 24-hour police presence at the capital’s

cattle markets.

The DMP Commissioner also stated that if anyone attempts to move sacrificial animals from one market to another, the police will take appropriate action. Traders bringing sacrificial animals from outside Dhaka must place a banner with the name of the specific market on the front of their vehicle. He further mentioned that traffic management has become a major challenge for Dhaka residents due to the cattle markets. Everyone must ensure that traffic congestion does not occur around the markets.

Those travelling home should be able to commute without hindrance.

Lastly, the DMP Commissioner mentioned that no one is allowed to sit with cattle on the roads outside the markets. The power division has been requested to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply at the sacrificial animal markets.
