The price of onion and chicken has come down in the kitchen markets of the capital during the week. However, the price of eggs has increased. The prices of most vegetables remain unchanged.
On Friday it was found that onion was selling for Tk 50-60 per kg that was being sold at Tk 60-65 last week.
After visiting some kitchen markets in the capital it was seen that broiler chickens were selling at Tk 180-185 per kg, which came down from last week’s price of Tk 185 -190.
Although the prices of broiler chickens have come down, the prices of Pakistani cock or Sonali breed chickens and red layer chickens have remained unchanged. The chicken is being sold at Tk 330-350 per kg. The red layer chicken was being sold at Tk 220-230 per kg.
However, when it comes to the prices of eggs, a sharp rise was noticed. Buyers now have to pay Tk 115-120 to buy a dozen of eggs that was sold at Tk 110 last week.

Traders have been seen selling carrots and tomatoes at higher prices as before. One kg of carrots is being sold at Tk 100-160 as per quality. Tomatoes were being sold at Tk 140-160 per kg. The prices of these two vegetables have remained unchanged during the week.
Other vegetables were also selling at high prices. Early winter vegetable beans are being sold at Tk 80-120 per kg like last week. Small size cauliflower and cabbage per piece were being sold for Tk 30-50. Radish was being sold at Tk 40-50 per kg.
The prices of snake gourd, string beans, okra, pointed gourd and bitter gourd did not change much during the week. Bitter gourd was being sold at Tk 60-80, snake gourd at Tk 50-60 per kg, pointed gourd at Tk 50-60 per kg, okra at Tk 40-60 per kg and string beans were being sold at Tk 70-80 per kg.
Four pieces of green bananas cost Tk 30-35, red spinach Tk 10-20 and radish spinach Tk 10.
Traders said that vegetable prices have remained stable for several weeks. Some early winter vegetables have come to the market. The supply of these items was increasing day by day. However, prices are unlikely to fall until the supply of winter vegetables increases.
