A Narayanganj court on Sunday awarded one person with death penalty and nine others with rigorous imprisonment for life in a college student murder case.
The court also fined fifty thousand taka to the death row accused and thirty thousand to each of the nine life term awardees. Additional district and session judge Sabina Yasmin handed down the verdict in a crowded courtroom on Sunday. Public prosecutor of the court Jasmin Ahmed confirmed the information. The death row accused is Zahid while the life term awardees are Alamgir, Basit, Asad, Jamal, Jewel, Momtaz Begum, Kolpona Begum, Kamal and Nazrul Islam.
Accrding to the prosecution story, the criminal gang on a November, 2011 night attacked the house of Shahidul Islam at Muchhapur village in Sonargaon and stabbed Shahidul’s son Mofizul Islam to death.
Petitioner expressed satisfaction and claimed the judgment to be implemented as soon as possible.
