A sexagenarian man was killed and four others were injured as a CNG-run auto rickshaw collided head on with a passenger bus on Tangail-Jamlpur highway in Golabari area under Modhupur Upazila of Tangail on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Anowar Hossain, 65, son of Shukur Ali, resident of Mirzapur Upazila.
Quoting locals, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Modhupur police Station Molla Azizur Rahman said a passenger bus and CNG-run auto rickshaw collided head on in the area at noon, leaving one dead on the spot and injured others.
The injured people were taken to Modhupur Hospital. Later, the locals obstructed the Tangail and Dhanbari highway. However, police went to the spot and brought the situation under control. He further said the body of the deceased was handed over to his family members after completing legal procedure.
