Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members arrested a man with 10 pieces of gold bars weighing 1 kg 179 gm from Navaron area of Sharsha upazila of Jashore district on Sunday morning.
The detainee was identified as Moniruzzaman (42), son of Sher Ali Morol of village Namajgram in Benapole port thana of the upazila.
BGB 49 Battalion Commander Lieutenant Coalonel Syed Shahed Minhaj Siddiqui said, on secret information,BGB members detained Md. Moniruzzaman from a Benapole bound bus at Navaron area on Jashore-Benapole highway of the upazila around 10:00 am.
BGB men recovered 10 pieces of gold bars weighing 1 kg 179 gm from his possession.
BGB Commander also said the estimated market value of the seized gold bars is 1 crore 1 lakh taka.
After filing a case in this connection against the detainee person, BGB handed him over to Benapole Port Police on Sunday, he added.
