Police on early Friday recorded the case regarding a housemaid, aged around 30 years old, rape and torture case 2 days later since the incident happened, when the matter come in light after several media runs report on the issue.
The incident took place at a house, located at Gazirchat area of Ashulia in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital on Tuesday (Sep 14), according to the case statement.
OC Md Kamruzzaman of Ashulia police station confirmed the matter, and said the case has been filed against three named, though he claims they got the allegation on Thursday, and recorded on night.
The detainee was identified as Delowar Hossain, from Gazirchat area of Ashulia in Savar. Other 2 accused were identified as Lipi Begum, wife of Delowar Hossain, and Lima Akhter.
The victim’s husband alleged, her wife went to the accused house, as they called her for some housework on Tuesday last. Later, Delowar, at one stage, raped her wife, and afterwards Lipi and Lima also come to the scene and brutally tortured her sexually and physically, as well as makes her bald.
“We later on the day, lodged a written complaint with Ashulia police station, but police did not record it, even police asked me to compromise the issue with accused”, he added.
However, when contacted, Eunus, SI of Ashulia police station claimed the reality bit different as the way it described into the case statement. When asked why police did not record the case even after lodging complaint bringing the allegation of rape, sexual torture, even to makes her bald, the SI replied, “I already told you that the woman did not contact with us later, besides she was given taka 8ooo for treatment”, adding that, they had to receive the case now as media makes it issue.
Ashulia OC claimed, they record the case soon after they got the complaint on Thursday. “We got the written complaint on Thursday, and taken the action fast issue.
On the other hand, Nur Riffat Ara, Upazila health and family planning officer of Dhamrai said they received the victim on Wednesday, and she still receiving treatment there. "She was tortured brutally", The health official added.
