One person named Hriday has been arrested in connection with the beating of Assistant Revenue Officer (ARO) and two security persons of the customs station at Sihalbandar in Akhaura, Brahmanbaria.
The incident happened on March 15. The Assistant Revenue Officer of the Akhaura Land Customs Station was manhandled. Kamrul Parvez filed a case with local police on Friday night naming four people as the plaintiff.
The arrested Hriday is the son of Idan Mia, a land port businessman.
On Saturday, the officer in charge (OC) of Akhaura police station Noor Alam confirmed the arrest.
According to the orosecution, one or more passengers returning from India brought goods in seven-eight bags around 3:30 on Friday.
As per the rules, customs baggage is not taken to the scanning room and is picked up in CNG autorickshaws. Customs then requested to take these products to the scanning room. This angered some local youths. They got into an argument with the customs people and started attacking. Meanwhile, the autorickshaw with the goods got stuck.
Immediately, the customs authorities followed them and when the auto-rickshaw was stopped in front of Banger Char Mosque on Akhaura-Agartala road, the local youths attacked the customs people.
The assistant revenue officer of Akhaura land customs station said. Kamrul Parvez and Sipahi Md. Emon Mia and Md. Jumman was injured.
Local people came forward and rescued them. One of the injured went to Akhaura Upazila Health Complex for treatment.

Kamrul Parvez filed a case against four people on Friday night as the plaintiff. A person from Ejaharnamiya was arrested in the night and sent to jail by the court on March 16, Saturday afternoon. Attempts are being made to arrest the rest.
