CVASU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Mohammad Lutfur Rahman said, ‘One Health’ means the interconnectedness of human, animal and environmental health. The lives of these three life forms are dependent on each other. Therefore, the experts from the three sectors needs to work together to prevent the spread of various diseases among humans, animals and the environment, as well as to find their causes and their remedies. There is no alternative.
The VC came up with the assertion while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar organized at Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) on the occasion of 'One Health Day-2024' on Monday morning.
One Health Institute Director Professor Dr Md Ahsanul Haque presided over the event. Dr. Meherjan Islam Ashrafi, Research Assistant of Organization for Health Protection and Humanitarian, delivered welcome speech.
Director (External Activities) Professor Dr. AKM Saifuddin addressed the seminar held at CVASU Auditorium as a special guest. Associate Professor of Asian University for Women and Program Director of Public Health Dr Mohiuddin Ahsanul Kabir Chowdhury presented the keynote paper in the seminar. Former Director of CVASU One Health Institute Professor Dr AMAM Junayed Siddiqi and Professor Dr Sharmin Chowdhury, Professor CVASU Department of Medicine and Surgery Dr Md Mizanur Rahman, Professor of Chittagong Medical College and Hospital Dr Anirudh Ghosh participated in the panel discussion after presenting the paper. Winners of various competitions were awarded on the occasion.
Various other programmes were organized throughout the day by CVASU One Health Institute to celebrate the day including colourful procession, quiz competition, guest lectures on health, poster exhibition.
