The court sentenced daughter-in-law Najiran Begum (39) to life imprisonment for strangling her mother-in-law at Ullapara in Sirajganj. At the same time, he has been sentenced to another year's imprisonment without payment of a fine of 10,000 taka.

Convicted Najiran Begum is the wife of Shah Alam of Naimuri village of Salanga police station in the district. She is the daughter of deceased Sheikh Pramanak of Gudarchar village of the same police station.
According to the details of the case, Nazir Begum was married to Shah Alam, son of Sakhawat Hossain of Naimuri village.
Nazeer Begum kept quarreling with her mother-in-law Amena Begum since marriage. On September 14, 2009, the wife and mother-in-law quarreled. Nazir Begum killed her mother-in-law by suffocation when no one was at home that day. Sakhawat Hossain, the victim's husband filed a case as a plaintiff in this incident.
A total of 15 witnesses testified in the hearing of the case. The judge announced the verdict today (Monday), finding the allegations proven.
