Bangladesh has reported 873 cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours till 8:00am Monday, the highest since February 28, taking the overall tally of infections to 1,957,200.
One person died from Covid-19 during this period after 21 days of zero coronavirus death. The last virus-related death was recorded since May 31, raising the death toll from the disease to 29,132, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) sources said.
The positivity rate was recorded at 10.87 percent after testing 8,028 samples across the country while the total positivity rate stands at 13.75 percent.
The recovery count rose to 19,05,899 after another 92 patients were discharged from the dedicated hospitals during the past one day.
From the beginning of the pandemic, 97.38 percent Covid-19 patients recovered among the infected people while 1.49 percent died, the DGHS statistics showed.
Among the 29,132 fatalities, 12,802 occurred in Dhaka division, 5,863 in Chattogram, 2,142 in Rajshahi, 3,718 in Khulna, 982 in Barishal, 1,328 in Sylhet, 1,417 in Rangpur and 880 in Mymensingh divisions.
