The Directorate of Narcotics Control arrested a youth named Yousuf (35) by conducting raids at separate places in Sonaimuri and Chatkhil upazilas of Noakhali.
Meanwhile, 144 cans of Royal Dutch Band beer, a foreign pistol, two rounds of bullets and a mobile phone were seized from him. On Wednesday afternoon, a case was filed against the arrested accused under the Arms and Narcotics Control Act and sent to the district jail through the police station.
Earlier, the operation was conducted under the leadership of Abdul Hamid, Assistant Director of Narcotics Control Directorate, Noakhali on Tuesday night. The arrested Yusuf is the son of Siddique Ulya of Syed Gazi Bepari village of Ghaserkhil village of Deoti union of Sonaimuri upazila.
Abdul Hamid, Assistant Director of Narcotics Control Department, said that the arrested accused had been dealing drugs together for a long time.
On Tuesday night, a team of District Narcotics Control Directorate raided Yusuf's house and arrested Yusuf, while his companion Mahmud Hasan Sajib (29) escaped on the basis of tip-off. Later, 144 cans, a foreign pistol and two rounds of ammunition were seized from the place shown by the arrested accused.
