Airport Armed Police (AAP) Battalion on Friday arrested a man along with 11 gold bars weighing 1.276 kilograms at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital Dhaka.
Airport Armed Police (AAP) Battalion Additional Superintendent of Police, Mohammad ZiaulHaque confirmed it.
He said the arrested was identified as Raju. He is a staff of private organization 'Shuveccha', a meet-and-greet service, operating at the airport.
Law enforcers seen Razu roaming in front of the Arrival Concourse Hall of the airport on Friday morning.
At that time, the airport police challenged him due to his suspicious movements.
Later, the law enforcers searched him and seized 10 gold bars from a power bank Raju was carrying and 1 gold bar from his possession.
The market value of the seized gold is about Tk 1.22 crore.
A case was filed against him under the Special Powers Act at Airport Police Station.
