OMS creates positive impact in Narail

Atta (wheat flour) selling activity under government's Open Market Sale (OMS) programme continues in Narail creating positive impact to the poor.

Office sources said, the government has been conducting the OMS programme in the municipality area for few months to control its high market prices and help to feed the poor at a lower price.

Department of food office sources said, a total of 12 sales centers have been set up in the town where five tonnes of Atta are being sold every day except Friday.

Md Assaduzzaman, a dealer of Rupganj area, said,  Each of the consumers is allowed to purchase 5 kgs of atta from the centre and the price of per kg of atta has been fixed at Tk 18.

Sheikh Reaz Ahmed, another dealer of Vhawakhali area in Narail Municipality, said the programme has created positive impacts to the poor as they were purchasing atta from the centers at reasonable prices fixed by the government.

Monotosh Kumar Majumder, District controller of food, said, the programme will be continued till the next stop order by higher authority.
