Shamima Akter Rashid, wife of freedom fighter comrade Abdur Rashid, died at a hospital in India yesterday after suffering from a lung cancer for long, said a press release. Shamima was the lone female member of Rangamati district council, editor of Daily Parboto Barta, and member of Awami League’s Rangamati district unit. Her husband was the founding editor and publisher of Daily Parboto Barta, and a senate member of the University of Chittagong. She left behind her son, daughter, grandchildren and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn her death.
