Awami League’s General Secretary Obaidul Quader's signatures have been allegedly forged to participate in the by-election for Vice Chairman post Dinajpur Sadar Upazila Parishad.
Rabiul Islam Sohag was promoting himself as Dinajpur district Awami League's secretary for industry and commerce and the party's nominee in the by-elections through this deception.
A case was filed against Sohag under the Digital Security Act with Kotwali police station in this regard by district AL general secretary and district council chairman Azizul Imam Chowdhury on Friday.
According to the case statement, on October 7, Rabiul Islam Sohag forged the signatures of AL General Secretary and Roads and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader and used fake seals to create fake party pads.
Azizul Imam Chowdhury said that after contacting Awami League office secretary Barrister Biplob Barua and Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, it was confirmed that he did not sign the so-called press release and did not appoint Rabiul as the district AL secretary for industry and commerce.
When tried to contact Rabiul Islam Sohag on his mobile phone several times to know about this, he did not respond.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kotwali Police Station Mozaffar Hossain said, considering the importance of the case, the case was recorded under the Digital Security Act and was handed over to Inspector of Police (Intelligence) Mahbubur Rahman. The investigation of the case has already started. If the signature and seal are proved to be fake, legal action will be taken against the accused.
