In an effort to enhance the quality of education, the Vice-Chancellor of the National University, Mashiur Rahman, has announced the lab-based workshops for teachers of colleges affiliated with the university. These workshops
aim to provide practical training to science teachers and will commence shortly.
Under the College Education Development Project (CEDP), modern facilities have been installed in college labs, equipped with advanced science apparatus. Training sessions will be conducted utilizing these resources to empower teachers with hands-on experience.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the subject-based teacher training, conducted via Zoom app, Vice-Chancellor Rahman emphasized the importance of research in education. He encouraged teachers to actively engage in research activities, assuring ample support and resources.
Highlighting the university's initiatives, Vice-Chancellor Rahman mentioned workshops conducted on 32 subjects' curricula. He also addressed the issue of a shortage of qualified teachers for modern curricula, assuring that it will be addressed through training programs.
Furthermore, Vice-Chancellor Rahman expressed the university's focus on book writing projects, particularly emphasizing the need for textbooks over guidebooks. He urged teachers to contribute to this endeavor, assuring that the university is fully prepared to support them.
The recently concluded subject-based teacher training program witnessed the participation of 299 teachers from affiliated colleges. The closing ceremony, chaired by Professor Mohammad bin Kashem, Dean of Postgraduate Education, Training, and Research Center, was attended by esteemed guests including Architect Professor Dr. Nizamuddin Ahmed, Treasurer Prof. Abdus Salam Howlader, and CEDP Project Director Mohammad Khaled Rahim.
The event featured speeches from course advisors representing eight subjects, including renowned professors from various disciplines. Dr. Mahfuzul Haque, Dr. Mohammad Azam, Govinda Chakraborty, Rakhhari Sarkar, Jasim Uddin, Khandaker Md. Ashraful Munim, Farooq Ahmed, and Ishtiaq M Syed shared insights and expertise.
Concluding the ceremony, Hasanur Rahman, Director of Teacher Training Department, expressed gratitude to all participants and organizers for their contributions to the successful completion of the training program.
