National University has set forth a comprehensive budget of Tk 2,097.31 crore for the fiscal year 2024-25, marking a significant step towards enhancing its educational infrastructure and services. The budget was approved during the 26th Senate session convened on July 13, under the guidance of Senate Chairman and Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Mashiur Rahman, and Treasurer Professor Abdus Salam Howladar.
Of this total budget, Tk 721.64 crore has been allocated for revenue purposes, aimed at meeting the day-to-day operational needs of the university. Additionally, Tk 1,375.66 crore has been earmarked for the annual development program, focusing on initiatives to improve facilities, academic resources, and student services across the campus. The Senate also approved a revised budget of Tk 564.60 crore for the previous fiscal year 2023-24, reflecting prudent financial management and strategic planning by the university administration.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mashiur Rahman underscored the pivotal role of these allocations in advancing the university's mission of providing quality education and fostering intellectual growth. He emphasized priorities such as enhancing teaching standards, enriching teacher training programs, creating conducive learning environments, updating curricula to align with industry demands, and introducing skill-oriented courses to equip students for the evolving job market.
The Senate session, attended by esteemed figures including former Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid MP and other Members of Parliament, concluded with insightful recommendations aimed at elevating educational standards at National University. These initiatives are poised to strengthen the university's contribution to national development goals by nurturing skilled graduates equipped to tackle contemporary challenges and contribute effectively to society.
