The 3rd National Debating Competition-2024, organized by the Noakhali Science and Technology University Debating Society (NSTUDS), on campus concluded on June 1. Bangladesh Post was the media partner, and the NSTU correspondent of Bangladesh Post, S Ahmed Fahim, received the media partner crest from the guests at the closing ceremony.
The final and closing ceremony of the competition was held on June 1 at Haji Idris Auditorium of the University. The debaters from Chittagong University emerged as champions, while Ahsanullah Science and Technology University Debating Club was the runner-up.
In the closing ceremony, Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury (M.P.) attended the program online as the chief guest.
In his speech, Education Minister applauded the NSTU Debating Society for organizing the National Debating Competition. He emphasized that through debate, students have the opportunity to research and gain knowledge on various subjects, thereby enhancing their skills and applying the knowledge gained in the workplace. The Minister also urged students to engage in creative activities, stating that education from institutions alone is not enough to build a good career."
In the closing ceremony, NSTU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Didar-ul-Alam was the chief patron of the program. Among others, NSTU Pro VC Professor Dr. Mohammad Abdul Baki, Treasurer Prof. Dr. Newaz Mohammed Bahadur, and Mayor of Noakhali Municipality Md. Sahid Ullah Khan attended as special guests.
Additionally, NSTU Registrar Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Proctor Professor Dr. Anisuzzaman, teachers from various departments, NSTU Debating Society advisors, committee members, and alumni were also present at the event.
The guests praised the NSTU Debating Society for initiating skill development among students from different universities by organizing this national debate competition. They expressed hope that such events will continue in the future.
It is to be noted that the debate was held in six rounds with the participation of around 100 debaters from 32 universities. Thirty judges and more than 200 organizing committee members were involved in managing the debate.
