The authorities of Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) have decided to create merit list for Honors 1st year admission in session 2020-21 on total 200 marks. Of that 100 marks will be given based on GPA of SSC and HSC examinations and 100 marks from the result of the admission test 2020-21.
The admission candidates have become unhappy on this decision as the HSC examinations of 2020 was not held due to corona pandemic and they were given auto pass. The admission notice was published on November 18 night. According to the notice, the merit list is highly dependent on the GPA marking of SSC and HSC.
They said, the 100 marks coming from the GPA have becomes barrier for their admission in NSTU. The HSC result of session 2019-20 was based on their SSC and JSC result. As a result, the 100 marks in GPA will create difference in merit list though the GST marks are counted. The candidates urged to the university authorities to decrease GPA marks in creating merit list throughout social media posts. On this matter, the university authorities said, the decision of GPA marking in admission is taken in the meeting of admission committee.
Though the HSC exam was not held but the students result was based on their JSC and SSC was not valueless.
On this matter, NSTU VC Professor Dr Didar ul Alam said, as the admission candidates are unhappy on GPA marking, we will discuss in the academic council meeting and take decision on it.
According to the admission notice, the candidates can apply from November 24 to till 9 December. On total 1391 seats and total 6 groups, the students can apply by paying 600 Tk for each group.
