Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan is vying for the upcoming events Asia Cup and the World Cup 2023. Shakib expressed that his sole focus are on these major tournaments and is dreaming of success in them.

Shakib returned to the country after attending the inauguration of an institution in Dubai on Sunday. He went to Barisal today to participate in free medicine distribution and blood donation program organized by Alhaj Noor Mohammad Munshi Hospital on Monday.

“It's great to be here. It feels great to be included in a great initiative. As there are no international matches in cricket, we don't get opportunity to visit Barishal. It’s very great to be here. Hope not only Barisal but the whole nation will support us. We will do well in the upcoming World Cup and Asia Cup,” said Shakib.

When asked about his plans, Shakib replied that he is only dedicated and dreaming of the Asia Cup and World Cup.

“Now the dream is World Cup and Asia Cup. The rest will be seen later. I have an academy in Dhaka and of course, everyone has a desire to work for the betterment of their sector. I have the same thoughts. I have my own cancer foundation. It is great to be associated with such an initiative. Please pray for Bangladesh cricket,” he added.

Shakib returned to Dhaka on the same day after the event in Barisal, he shared his experience of LPL and GT20 Canada with the media.

“LPL experience was good. Sri Lanka was a bit important for us. As we have a match with Sri Lanka in Asia Cup. I was able to get an idea about the field; the idea is about their players. It was good from that point of view," he added. Bangladesh will begin their Asia Cup campaign with the first match against Sri Lanka on August 31 at the Pallekele International Stadium. The Tigers will fly to Pakistan for the second encounter against Afghanistan on September 3.
