Whoever is not wrong here, why would she take responsibility? In such a story, producer Mahathir has made an awareness short film titled 'Not Her Fault', where Mim is playing the victim of the story.
Last Monday on the occasion of Women's Day the short film ‘Not Her Fault’ was published on social media. It has given a message to change the attitude of the people of the society towards the women victims of rape. In the story Mim portrayed the daughter of a middle-class family. She does all the housework like other Bengali girls, but when the bridegroom comes to see her, they don’t talk further about her marriage because she has some problem with her leg.
Usually, the father of the girl continues the conversation saying that was a common accident, but Mim frankly admitted to the rape. If a woman is raped, she is almost considered a criminal, the burden of rape has to be carried throughout her life. This short is to bring people out of such mentality. In this short length film of only 5 minutes the director did not lack anything. Starting from decoration of the house, costumes, dialogue and ambient music seem to have been found in the film.
Producer Mahathir Spondon said, ‘There is only one purpose in telling this story. Let us be a little more sympathetic and kinder to those who are victims of rape. If we can get rid of the mentality about them in our society through this story, that would be our success.”
The short is floating in praise through social media. Many said that may not be the case in reality, but it should be. It was seen more than 1.7 million times till Tuesday evening. Pratha Mandal wrote in the comment that it is not difficult to change the mentality of a person even if he cannot change it. If the mentality changes, the society will also change. Although the reality is different, if such short films are made regularly, the society will change one day. Positive leaves a lasting positive effect on the minds of some people.
