Nomination papers of 32 candidates in 3 seats submitted

Some 32 candidates have submitted their nomination papers from 3 constituencies of Munshiganj for the 12th Jatya Sangsad (JS) elections on Thursday (November 30), the last date for submission of nomination papers. This information is learnt from the office of Munshiganj district returning officer.

According to sources, 11 candidates in Munshiganj-3 constituency, 10 candidates in Munshiganj-2 constituency and 11 candidates in Munshiganj-1 constituency submitted their nomination papers.

The nominees for Munshiganj-3 (Munshiganj Sadar-Gazaria) seat are Mumtaz Sultana Ahmed, Shamim Haider Mollah, Awami League Freedom Fighter Affairs Secretary and Member of Parliament Advocate Mrinal Kanti Das, Chowdhury Fahria Afrin, former Munshiganj Municipal Mayor Mohammad Faisal, Md Shahin Hossain, Babul Mia, Md. Dulal Hossain Mondal, Muhammad Omar Farooq, A. F. M Rafiqullah Salim and Md. Azim Khan.

The nominees for Munshiganj-2 (Tongibari-Louhajong) constituency are Md. Bachchu Sheikh, Noore Alam Siddique, Sohana Tahmina, Md. Jalal Dhali, Md. Sahidur Rahman, Kamal Khan, Sagufta Yasmin, Md. Zakir Hossain, Md. Sairaj Khan and Md. Jahanur Rahman.

The nominees for Munshiganj-1 (Sirajdikhan-Srinagar) constituency are Ataur Rahman, Doel Akhtar, Latif Sarkar, Mohiuddin Ahmed, Mahi Badruddoza Chowdhury, Muhammad Farid Hossain, Golam Sarwar Kabir, Sheikh Muhammad Sirajul Islam, Antara Selima Huda, Ata Ullah and Nurjahan Begum.

According to the public notification signed by the Munshiganj District Returning Officer, the nomination papers were scheduled to be selected by the Returning Officer on December 01, and appeals against the decision of the Returning Officer in selection of nomination papers can be filed from 05-09 December, 2023.
