Noakhali poetry festival starts today

A two-day Noakhali poetry festival starts today (Thursday) in Noakhali with the slogan ‘Kobitar Jagoron Upokule Amoron.’

The festival will be held at Zila Shilpakala Academy Auditorium where invited national level poets, poets of Noakhali living in Dhaka, and poets from Noakhali, Feni, Lakkhipur and India are likely to participate. 

A press conference was held on this occasion on Wednesday at Moumachi Kochi Kachar Mela Bhaban at the district town. 

Poet Badrul Haider, Convener of Noakhali Poetry Festival Celebration Council, said the two-day-long festival will be inaugurated with procession, national anthem and regional songs of Noakhali at 3:30 pm on Thursday.  Prime Minister's Education and Cultural Affairs Adviser Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury was invited as the chief guest at the festival.

Heroic freedom fighter Farida Khanam MP is likely to attend the festival as special guest. Professor Dr Md Didar-ul-Alam, Vice Chancellor of Noakhali Science and Technology University will preside over the program. Seminar, poetry recitation and cultural programme will be held on the second day of the festival.

Convener of Noakhali Poetry Festival Celebration Council poet Badrul Haider, joint convener poet Mintu Sareng, poet Prattay Jashim and Noakhali district coordinator of the ceremony poet and journalist Jamal Hossain Bishad spoke at the press conference.  

Among the others, member of celebration council poet Mashiur Rahman Mashi, poet Abhilash Dash, poet Mahiuddin Chowdhury Mohan and poet Firoz Shah were also present.
