Mayor of Noakhali Municipality Shahid Ullah Khan Sohel distributed masks and hand sanitizers among journalists at a function at Noakahli Press Club on Wednesday. At the time, the mayor said that media workers are too much of a helper to carry out the duties. While others remain busy defending themselves during disaster, journalists work for humanity and public awareness, putting their lives at risk.
He also assured journalists to contribute in any way possible even within his own limitations. At the meeting of the mayor informed that arrangements have been made to deliver hand sanisers to 10 thousands families in Noakhali municipality from Tuesday morning. These are being delivered through municipal volunteers and community policing organizations at homes in different residential areas.
Mayor Shahid Ullah Khan also said that the programme would continue till the risk of coronavirus is reduced. Mayor, councilors and municipal officials are working continuously in this regard, he added.
Apart from this, the municipality has been announcing in various places to raise awareness among people to prevent coronavirus. Aminuzzaman Milon, journalist Abu Naser Manju, and Md. Jasim spoke at the function, among others.
