Noakhali Awami League rejects Quader Mirza’s statements

Noakhali Sadar and Municipal units of ruling Awami League protested and rejected the statements of Mayor of Bashurhat Municipality Abdul Quader Mirza, who is also brother of AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader.  

Noakhali Sadar and Municipal Awami League and front organisations made the protest at a press conference at the district Awami League office on Friday morning. 

The AL leaders at the press conference termed Quader Mirza’s statements as false, misleading and indecent.  Noakhali town unit Awami League President Abdul Wadud Pintu read out a written statement at the press conference. In the written statement, he said that Quader Mirza has been making different statements from time to time. “We would like to challenge all the statements made by Quader Mirza about extortion and job recruitment trade. Let him prove the authenticity of these,” he added. Noakhali Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Shamsuddin Jehan, Sadar Upazila Awami League General Secretary Advocate Ataur Rahman Naser and District Juba League convener Imon Bhatt were present among others. 

Meanwhile, Quader Mirza observed a sit-in programme in front of Noakhali's Companigonj Police Station. He observed the programme with the party leaders and workers from 10:00 am to 12:00pm on Friday demanding withdrawal of Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Noakhali, Superintendent of Police (SP), OC and OC (Investigation) of Com­paniganj police station. He also demanded to stop the practice of malpolitics.
