Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said the caretaker government system is now in the museum as per the Supreme Court verdict. There is no room for renewed debate on the issue.
Democracy in our country has developed to some extents. It is a slow process. There is no chance of developing it overnight. A neutral election commission (EC) will be formed through a search committee for ensuring neutral elections.
The minister made the remarks while handing over the lease documents of plots allotted at rehabilitation sites among the affected people of Padma Multipurpose Bridge construction project on Sunday.

He further said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wants fair elections. So be prepared for the election without any chaos.
The minister said, “The caretaker government system had left in 2011 following a court order. It is a matter of resolution. The court has sent the caretaker government to the museum.”
Addressing the BNP, he said, “You want elections under a neutral government. But, your leader once said, there is no one neutral except the crazy and the child.”
Regarding the implementation of the Padma Bridge, Obaidul Quader said, “The Padma Bridge is the golden crop of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s foresight. Bangabandhu’s daughter declared, “I will build the Padma Bridge with my own funds to prove that we are a nation of heroes.”
Munshiganj-2 MP Prof Sagufta Yasmin Emily, Chief Coordinator of the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project Major General SM Zahid Hossain, Project Director of the Padma Bridge Md Shafiqul Islam and others spoke on the occasion while Bridges Secretary Abu Bakar Siddique presided over the programme.
