Police are yet to make any progress in the murder of Mostafizur Rahman, a former of Rajshahi University student who was stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants in Savar.
“Investigation is on and we are trying to trace the suspects since we have gathered information on them. Hopefully, we would arrest them soon,” AFM Sayeed, Officer-in-charge of Savar Model Police Station told The Bangladesh Post.
Mostafizur, a former student in RU’s Philosophy department, was stabbed and death by some unidentified snatcher at Shimultola area in Savar on early Saturday.
He worked at a Private educational institute in Savar for the last one year. Family said, Mostafiz left his home at Rajshahi by a bus on Friday night and arrived in Savar early Saturday.
Police suspected that he might have been a victim of mugging after getting off the bus.
Following the incident, victim’s Mojibur Rahman filed a lawsuit against some unidentified people with Savar Model Police Station.
However, no arrest has been made yet.

Meanwhile, post mortem examinations found Mustafizur was killed by sharp weapons.
Dr Sheikh Fuad Alamin of Forensic department at Shahid Surawardi Medical Collage Hospital told the Bangladesh Post on Monday, “We found two stab wounds on the body.”
One wound on the chest was 4.5-inch deep and hit lungs and left atrium of his heart. It might have caused the death,” he added.
Mugging gang active
Locals alleged a mugging gang has been active in Shimultola, Dagarmora, and CRP Road areas of Savar for long and carrying out criminal activities there.
Movement of the ring increases in early morning and late evening and it mainly target newcomers face to mug.
According to locals, the gang is also involved in drug and anti-social activities in the area. Talking to the locals, Bangladesh Post found that Md Ali, son of Joynal Chowkidar, Sujon alias Bihari Shujon, son of Md. Nasir, and Shafiq mainly lead the ring.
Besides, Sultan, Razib, Rony, Nayan, Delowar alias Delu, Sohrab and some others are active member of the gang.
