Following several days of continuous rainfall, temperatures across the country are on the rise, accompanied by mild to moderate heatwaves in some districts. However, there's no imminent threat of severe heatwaves this month.

Meteorologist Kazi Zebunnesa shared these insights during a press conference on Wednesday afternoon at the Meteorological Department.

Zebunnesa noted that today's highest temperature was recorded at 39 degrees Celsius in Dinajpur, while Dhaka experienced a maximum of 35 degrees Celsius.

She also mentioned that mild to moderate heatwaves are currently affecting certain districts and are expected to persist until May 19. Beyond that, there's a likelihood of rain or thunderstorms resuming.

Additionally, the Meteorological Office's three-day forecast on Wednesday indicates a gentle heatwave over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, and Sylhet divisions, encompassing various districts. The heatwave may persist and spread, with a slight increase in nighttime temperatures.

Moreover, isolated rain or thundershowers are forecasted in Sylhet division, while the rest of the country is expected to remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies.

Until Saturday morning (May 18), the Meteorological Office hasn't forecasted any rain across the country, anticipating mainly dry weather with partly cloudy skies. Heatwave conditions may persist, leading to a slight increase in both daytime and nighttime temperatures.
