No fear of session jam at SUST

Academic activities at the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in Sylhet are going on in full swing attempting to recover the learning losses and avert session jam.  

After nearly 18 months, SUST reopened its residential halls to students in phases starting from 25 October and resumed academic activities.

Apart from academic activities, the SUST authority is also arranging indoor and outdoor sports and games in an attempt to keep the students reinvigorated mentally and physically.

While teachers are now passing busy times with taking classes, the students with studying.

As a result, a joyous mood is prevailing all over the university campus as all students, teachers and other staffs are doing their respective jobs maintaining strict health safety guidelines.

Talking to this correspondent, students expressed their satisfaction over smooth academic activities, saying their teachers are very friendly with them.

The students said they heaved a sigh of relief after completing their examinations.

 “After a prolonged closure, we are now attending classes physically again. We are feeling very good obviously. Teachers are helping us to recover our learning losses as after this long break we are lagging behind our regular course of studies. In addition to academic studies, our sporting activities are also going on at full blast. Almost all the students of the university are participating in various sports. We feel really refreshed and energetic participating in the sports,” Moreom Anjum Jerin, a student of the Department of Social Work, said.

“Teachers are cooperating us in every possible way. We are really grateful to them," Nayma Akter Snighda, a student of the Sociology department, said.

Lauding the SUST authority’s dynamic, pragmatic and tireless efforts to make the students feel relaxed and free the institution from the fear session jam amid the Covid-19 pandemic, she added that academic activities are going on in full swing so that there does not create any chance of session jam. 

SUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed on Friday told the Bangladesh Post that they want to set an example as the university is determined to make the institution free from session jam.

“And the university continued to come up with various measures so that students would not suffer session jam. Our teachers continue taking classes and holding the ‘term test’ examinations through helpful approach. Besides, all course teachers of different departments of the university are completing the ‘term test’ examinations,” he added.
