Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, is just a few days away. Chattogram city is no exception to the festive mood of Durga Puja. Puja will be held in 277 Mandaps of the city, authorities stated.
Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Saleh Mohammad Tanvir said Ansar members would be involved in the security of the pavilions along with the police.
He was speaking to reporters after a discussion with the Chattogram Metropolitan Puja Udjapan Parishad in the conference room of the CMP Commissioner's Office on Thursday afternoon. CMP Commissioner Saleh Mohammad Tanvir said security measures have been taken keeping in mind all kinds of issues including traffic system in Chattogram metropolitan area from the beginning of the puja to the abandonment of the idol. There will be no DJ party in the Puja Mandaps.
It has been advised not to set off any kind of fireworks. Authorities have requested citizens to inform the police without listening to rumors through social media or any other means. Worship should be turned into a festival of harmony and joy. Security will be ensured in all Puja Mandaps, he added.
He said all the shrines will have sanitizers and masks in the context of the corona. The puja celebration council will ensure that no one can enter the Puja Mandap without wearing a mask and sanitizer.
