No decision has been made yet about the hundred percent festival allowance demanded by the teachers of non-government schools and colleges, said Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni.
She made the remarks while responding to a query from journalists at Chandpur Circuit House on Friday morning.
The Education Minister said, “The teachers of non-government schools and colleges want hundred percent festival allowance. No official decision has been made on the matter yet. The issue of government capacity is also involved with this.”
She further said that she would look into the matter and see what can be done considering the overall situation.
“Since we are working to improve the quality of education, I think it is not possible to improve the quality of education without providing financial and social security to teachers,” she added.
Chandpur Deputy Commissioner Anjana Khan Majlish, Superintendent of Chandpur Police Milon Mahmud, Chandpur Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Nurul Islam Nazim Dewan, Chandpur Municipality Mayor Zillur Rahman and leaders of Awami League and its affiliated organizations were present during time, among others.
