Bangladesh registered only one death from Covid-19 in 24 hours, till 8am Thursday. This takes the total number of deaths to 27,907. The current positivity rate stands at 1.21 pc.
The only deceased was a man between 51-60 years old in Dhaka, according to the release. No death was reported in the remaining 7 divisions of the country.

According to experts, the Covid-19 situation in a country can be claimed to be under control if the infection rate remains under 5pc for two weeks. Bangladesh has successfully achieved that feat over a month ago. The country recorded 237 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,571,906, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday.
The death rate now stands at 1.78 percent in the country, as per the press release. Around 19,544 samples were tested during this time.
Around 231 people recovered from the virus during the time. Up until now, a total of 1,535,892 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 97.71 percent.
As of Thursday, 5,092,080 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 252,321,459 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
