Terming corruption as like cancer, newly appointed Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique on Sunday said he would not compromise on this.
"We would not give indulgence to any evil force in the judiciary. Corruption is a cancer. The best way to treat a cancer infected finger is to cut it out. We would take actions right away if we learn about corruption of any employees of the judiciary," he said.
The chief justice said this while addressing a felicitation accorded by the Attorney General's office and the Supreme Court Bar Association at his court room at the Supreme Court.
Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique further said steps will be taken right away if any kind of corruption takes place in the judiciary. It would not be accepted if the right of getting justice of the commoners gets hampered
because of any evil force, he added.
"We would welcome any constructive criticism regarding judiciary. No state can become strong if any one of its three organs remains weak and troubled.
So I believe, the other two organs of the state would play effective role from their respective positions, in resolving crisis of the judiciary," the
chief justice said.
President M Abdul Hamid on December 30, 2021, appointed Justice Hasan Foez Siddique as the 23rd chief justice of the country.
