‘No chance of vote robbery’

Published : 23 Jul 2023 09:46 PM

Election Commissioner Anishur Rahman has said that there is no opportunity to give one person's vote to another through EVM.  Earlier there was a term known as vote robber.  But now it is not.  No one is allowed to enter the polling station except the voter.

He said these in response to questions from reporters at Chattogram Circuit House on Sunday afternoon.

He said, free and fair election is our main goal.  As the election was held on the eve of the national elections, the voter turnout may have been low.  In this case, the role of candidates is important.

The environment of Chattogram-10 constituencies is very good so far.  Everyone is campaigning in a beautiful environment like everyone else.

He said that the attack on Hero Alam in Dhaka-17 constituency by-election is undesirable.  No one is exempt from those involved in this incident.  All of them will be brought under the law. CCTV cameras will be installed in all the centers within the next 4 to 5 days in Chattogram-10 by-election.

Regarding the registration of two new teams, he said, two teams were recommended to be registered after verification at the field level.  That's what we're saying.  If there is any objection by 26th.

Then we will see the matter.  If there is a complaint, it will be disposed of.

The Election Commissioner said about the recent attacks on Awami League and BNP, there is no opportunity to underestimate any incident.  That is why we will increase the number of law and order forces in the elections.  The law enforcement forces are also investigating the incident that happened a few days ago.  We have not received any complaint from anyone in this by-election of Chattogram.
