No alternative to increasing power, gas supply for protecting local industries

Industry owners say at FBCCI Standing Committee Meeting

Industry owners  at the first meeting of the FBCCI Standing Committee on Protection and development of Local Industry said that there have no alternative to increase electricity and gas supply to the industries for ensuring smooth production and thus protecting local industries. 

The meeting was held recently at the FBCCI conference room, Motijheel in the capital.

FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam, as the chief guest, virtually joined the meeting.

Businessmen said that despite being a potential sector, the production of the industry is being disrupted due to the fact that the local industry does not ensure an uninterrupted energy supply. 

As a result, the businessmen in this sector are facing various problems. Production costs are rising due to a lack of uninterrupted energy. And as a result, the price of the product is increasing. Many industries are about to close down. Businessmen also commented that the local industrialists are getting discouraged.

Co-Chairman of the Committee and Director of Mithela Group Md. Mahbub Khan Himel said there is no alternative to environmental industry for the development of sustainable Bangladesh industry, if we want to present a healthy and beautiful green country to the next generation, the government should encourage the creation of new initiatives by focusing on environment-friendly industry.

 In order to keep the country’s economy running, textile-garment industry must ensure 100% uninterrupted fuel gas.

Director of FBCCI also addressed the meeting.

Chairman of the committee Md. Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan Liton chaired the meeting. Among others, FBCCI Senior Vice President Md. Amin Helaly, FBCCI Director Hafez Hazi Harun-Or- Rashid, Md. Abul Hashem, Alhaj Azizul Hoque, Co-chairmen and Members of the committee were also present.
