Internation Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Bangladesh Secretary General Ataur Rahman said, ‘there is no alternative of digitalisation if we want to survive in international trade. Besides, one of the biggest obstacles in international trade is cyber crime. We have to work on this too.’
He said that the chain of institutions including ICC is increasing day by day. Therefore, to survive in the competition, modernisation must come forward.
He said these at a conference titled ‘Digitalizing International Trade of Bangladesh’ organised by Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Bangladesh at the Bangabandhu Conference hall of World Trade Center on Wednesday.
Omar Hajjaj, president of Chattogram Chamber said, Bangladesh is the 35th economy in the world. As a result, worldwide international trade with various countries is increasing. In this case 90% of Bangladesh’s export & import is done through customs.
Bangladesh is now digitalised in everywhere but when it comes to international trade we still remain in manual mode. Bangladesh is the active member of International Chamber of Commerce. Therefore, there is no alternative to digitization to maintain its position in international trade.
The speakers said that the government is working on ‘National Single Window’ for International Trade Facilitation. Through this various trade related organisations of the government are being brought under one umbrella.

Rafiul Monir, Chattogram Custom House Joint Commissioner Marufur Rahman, Export Promotion Bureau Assistant Director Morshedul Haque were present among others.
