Error in National Identification Card has caused unprecedented problem for the 70 years old MdJamat Ali. According to the NID card, he is as of now 44 years old where his son is 50 years old. This bizarre error has created a lot of problems in Jamat Ali’s life.
According to the information of the NID card, birth date of Jamat Ali is August 4, 1977.
On the other hand, his son’s NID shows that the birth date of his son, Monirul Islam is October 10, 1971 but the actual birth date of Jamat Ali is August 4 of 1951. The ID card shows him 26 years younger, Jamat Ali claims.
He said that he has become younger than his son according to the NID card. In addition, despite being a 70 years old elderly person, he cannot receive any benefits of an elderly person due to the NID card error. He cannot even apply for elderly pension, he added.

Upon asking what steps are being taken, he said that he already went to the election commission office of Jibannagar upazila. Officials said that the correction process will take time.
Jibannagar upazila Parishad Chairman Md Hafizur Rahman said that Jamat Ali is on despair due to the NID card error. As the database shows him as 44 years old, no elderly benefits can be provided to him without correcting the birth date in his NID first.
Jibannagar Upazila Election Officer Md Kamrul Hasan said that some voters who filled 2009 can face some problems in their NID. As Md Jamat Ali has not submitted any written complain till now, no action has been taken yet.
After receiving a complain, authorities will take further steps to solve the issue, he said.
