National Interest of Bangladesh (NIB), a citizen platform, has come forward to reduce the risk of the coronavirus of the police in charge of law and order.
To this end, 1,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) was handed over to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Sunday morning, says a press release.
DMP Commissioner Mohammad Shafiqul Islam received the PPE. Apart from senior DMP officials, NIB joint secretary Masud Kabir, its executive member Amirul Momenin Manik and member Aminul Islam Shant were also present at the time.
While accepting the PPE, Mohammad Shafiqul Islam said that DMP members are still engaged in the security of people's lives and property even during the disaster caused by coronavirus.
Many policemen have already been infected by the virus while performing their professional duties. He commented that the PPE donated by NIB would play a vital role in reducing the corona risk of the police.
To reduce corona risk, NIB recently distributed 400 PPE at Kurmitola General Hospital, Sheikh Russell Gastro Liver Institute and Hospital, Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital and Bangladesh-Kuwait Friendship Hospital.
Besides, 100 PPE were distributed among the journalists of Samay Television and Jamuna Television. In addition, a disinfection chamber has been set up in front of Kurmitola General Hospital and at Dhaka Reporters' Unity at the initiative of NIB.
