New solutions needed to revive Tigers blunt batting

England are paying the price for winning the World Cup. At least according to the opinion of some cricket experts. Focusing completely on the ODI World Cup and not keeping Ashes series on mind came as a nightmare for the English. In Tests, from 2018 till Day 2 of Headingly Test, England have been all out 4 times below 100-run mark. Whenever Test batting debacle issue arises Bangladesh always come into consideration. Because, Tigers’ situation is worse than that of England.

During that tenure, England got out 11 times below 200-run mark. Only Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are close to England’s stat. They both got out 9 times each below 200-run mark. Worrying sign for Bangladesh is not the total number of times they were all out below 200, it is the average number of times Tigers got out below 200-run mark.

England did edge Bangladesh in getting out below 200-run mark but they also played way more Test matches than what Bangladesh played during that period. Therefore, Bangladesh are the one who come out as worst team to get out below 200-run mark. Sri Lanka got all out 9 times below 200-run mark but it took them 34 innings whereas it took Bangladesh only 19 innings! Bangladesh have been bowled out below 200 once every 2.5 innings. Countries who are playing regular Test cricket are nowhere close to Bangladesh’s dismal record. Pakistan, who are unable to play Tests on their own soil for almost a decade are after Bangladesh. They have been bowled out below 200 once every 2.5 innings.

As stated earlier, England are the only team to get bowled out 4 times below 100-run mark. In the last two years, no team have suffered such fate on this regard. Bangladesh, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand and the Windies have suffered this debacle only once respectively. So far in 2019, Ireland's 25-run all out against England last month is the lowest score. However, in 2018, Bangladesh’s name was beside this record. The memory of collapsing in Antigua for mere 45 runs might still haunt Bangladesh’s batting lineup.

Therefore, tough test awaits in front of new coach Russell Domingo as he needs to come up with new solutions to resurrect Bangladesh’s batting lineup. On top of that, Bangladesh will not be able to play their favorite format (ODI) in the near future as there are no scheduled ODI series or matches in the fixture list. Bangladesh are scheduled to play Tests against Afghanistan and India next month. Hence, Domingo needs to start the revival work in a format (Test) where Tigers still could not adapt. That to with absence of some key senior players.
