New principals have been appointed in five leading medical colleges across the country, including Dhaka Medical College (DMC). The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued a notification on Wednesday regarding these appointments. Four of the colleges, including DMC, have received acting principals.
According to the notification from the Health Education and Family Welfare Department, Professor Kamrul Alam of the Department of Thoracic Surgery at DMC has been appointed as the Acting Principal of the college. Similarly, Professor Mohammad Jasim Uddin of the Department of Medicine at Chattogram Medical College (CMC) has been appointed as the Acting Principal of his institution.
Additionally, Professor Khandhkar Md. Faisal Alam of the Department of Microbiology at Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) has taken on the role of Acting Principal there. At Comilla Medical College, Professor Mazharul Shaheen of the Department of Ear, Nose, and Throat has been made the Acting Principal of Sir Salimullah Medical College (SSMC). Meanwhile, Professor Md. Azizul Haque of the Department of Endocrinology at Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College (SBMC) has also been appointed as Acting Principal.
The notification states that these officers from the BCS (Health) cadre have been posted to their respective positions until further orders. It was also mentioned that this notification was issued by order of the President.
These appointments are expected to bring new leadership and direction to the colleges, ensuring the continued excellence in medical education and healthcare services in Bangladesh.
