Newly-appointed Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral M Nazmul Hasan on Tuesday paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths, said ISPR.
Earlier in the morning, Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan adorned the new naval chief with the rank badge of Vice Admiral at a function in the presence of Prime Minister's Security Adviser Major General (retd) Tariq Ahmed Siddique.
After adorning the rank badge, Major General (retd) Tariq Ahmed Siddique congratulated the newly-appointed Chief of Navy. Vice Admiral M Nazmul Hasan on behalf of Bangladesh Navy thanked the Prime Minister and her Security
Adviser. Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Md Tofazzal Hossain Mia, Principal Staff Officer of Armed Forces Department Lt Gen Walker-Uz-Zaman, Military Secretary to Prime Minister Major General Kabir Ahmed and Principal Staff Officers of Naval Headquarters were present on the occasion.
Later, the new Chief of Navy and President of Bangladesh Navy Family Welfare Association Nadia Sultana paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his portrait. At that time, they also signed the visitor’ book and prayed for salvation of the soul of the greatest hero of the Bengali nation.
Later, the Chief of Naval Staff laid a wreath at Shikha Anirban in Dhaka Cantonment. He paid tribute to the memory of the brave members of the armed forces who were martyred in the great Liberation War of 1971 and signed the visitors’ book there.
The newly-appointed Naval Chief was given a guard of honour upon his arrival at the Naval Headquarters. He took salute and inspected the guard. Principal Staff Officers of Naval Headquarters, directors of all departments and senior military-civil officers were present on the occasion.
