Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim has said that reading the history of the liberation war is necessary to fill the inner void of the new generation.
The minister made the remarks while addressing a function titled ‘Celebration of Victory in 50 Years of Independence’ at the open stage of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) in the capital on Saturday. The event is hosted by the Independent University Alumni Association.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid was present as special guest at the function presided over by IUB Vice-Chancellor Professor Tanvir Hasan. The keynote speaker was Asim Kumar Ukil, Cultural Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League while Abdul Hai Sarkar, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Independent University inaugurated the function.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said, “If we want to pay homage to those who have given independence to the country, we need to know about the liberation war. I do not ask the younger generation to form a political party. But as residents of this country, they have to know Bangabandhu, read his autobiography and real history of liberation war. Then the void that exists within the younger generation will be filled.”
