The four-storied new building of Autapara ABC Alim Madrasa at Sahapur under Ishwardi Upazila in Pabna district was inaugurated on Tuesday.
Member of Parliament of Pabna-4 (Ishwardi-Atgharia) constituency Galibur Rahman Sherif officially inaugurated the new building for students in the afternoon.
On the occasion of inauguration of the new building, a gathering was organised on the madrasa premises. Lawmaker Galibur Rahman spoke as the chief guest at the programme while Madrasa Governing Body President Md Mostafizur Rahman Raihan presided over it and Madrasa Principal Md Abdul Karim gave the welcome speech. Ishwardi Upazila Chairman Emdadul Haque Rana Sardar, Vice-chairman Abdus Salam Khan, Atia Ferdous Kakali, Sahapur Union Parishad Chairman Emlak Hosain Babu, former upazila vice-chairman Asadur Rahman Ripon, Sahapur Union Awami League President Akal Uddin Sardar and Ishwardi Press Club President Mostak Ahmed Kiran spoke as special guests at the meeting.
In his speech, lawmaker Galibur Rahman said Ishwardi is a very promising upazila. People from different countries of the world and all parts of the country are coming to work in Ishwardi. Arrangements will be made so that the sons and daughters of Ishwardi can work in Ishwardi after completing their education.
“There will be an effort to make Ishwardi a well-known upazila in the country by developing its infrastructure. All kinds of crops are produced here. So, I am looking at how to set up an industrial plant here without damaging the agricultural land. I want to decorate Ishwardi beautifully with everyone's cooperation,” he said.
The lawmaker also promised to do some other development work for the madrasa, including building boundary walls and sheds. Principal Md Abdul Karim said Pabna's Education Engineering Department was in overall supervision of the construction work of the building funded by the Ministry of Education. The construction of the four-storey building started in 2018. After five and a half years of construction, the new building was inaugurated on Tuesday. Around Tk 2.93 crore has been spent on construction of the building.
