The national cricket team after a disappointing performance in the just concluded ICC World Cup in the UK is trying to come back to perform and reveal its full potentials. The disappointing performance in the ICC World Cup was further spotlighted when the Tigers experienced a white wash against the Sri Lankans in the ODI series. In a bid to introduce superior coaching for the players the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) sacked the English head coach Steve Rhodes and also discontinued contracts with the bowling coaches – Sunil Joshi and Courtney Walsh.
BCB decided to hire new head coach and also introduce more experienced spin and fast bowling coaching staff. The new coaching team, thought to have more capabilities in training international cricket players, comprise former South Africa coach Russell Domingo as head coach of the Bangladesh national team. New Zealand’s former captain Daniel Vettori will lead as the head coach of spin bowling department while South Africa’s former fast bowler, Charl Langeveldt, will lead the fast bowling department of the Bangladesh team. The big test of the Tigers would be to better perform in the Test match against Afghanistan and Triangular T20 series involving hosts Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe next month. Regular training session formally started from Thursday held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
