Tamim Iqbal the dashing opening batter of the bangaldesh cricket team, who has been out of the scene for last few days, came into public eye right after the Interim Government appointed Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan as the adviser for Youth and Sports.
However, Tamim who, has been out of the national team since withdrew himself out of the ODI World Cup in India last year, outburst with uttering that he does not want to be part of dirty games.
Tamim actually drew the attention of all when he accompanied the Sports adviser Asif during his visit to Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium few Days back. However, whe the newly elected BCB president Faruque Ahmed replyimg to a query whether Tamim might be seen on the field again or whether the star opener will be seen in a different role altogether outside the field.
The former national captain and chief selector, now the BCB president Faruque told the media in his first official press conference at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday said, “I will have to talk to Tamim. He is a very sensible boy, as I know him. I believe that he is one of the best cricketers of Bangladesh. Personally, if you ask me, I would want him to play for two-three more years. But me wanting that doesn't mean it will happen. We will have to see what his fitness is like.”
What could be his role? Faruque replied, “I will hold discussions with both Tamim and the medical department in order to see what decision can be made to facilitate his national team return.”
But Faruque revealed the ODI format would be better for Tamim - “We have to see the format that the relevant department is regarding these matters. Tests maybe difficult but it's good if it's ODIs. Whatever he does, it's good if he can play and if he can't play then if he comes to the board I will be very happy. He has leadership qualities.
