With an impressive lineup featuring 88 films from diverse corners of the globe across six captivating categories, this year's festival promises to be a cinematic extravaganza. While the previous edition boasted participation from 95 films representing 35 countries, this year's event maintains its reputation for global inclusivity and cultural exchange.
Bangladesh proudly stands at the forefront of this international celebration of cinema, with three exceptional short films selected to represent the nation's talent on the world stage. "A Letter of Postmaster" directed by Supin Barman, "Joy Bangla" by Shaila Rahman Tithi, and "Everything is Nothing" by Arafat Mohsin will grace the screens, showcasing the rich storytelling and artistic prowess of Bangladeshi filmmakers. These remarkable films will be featured in the Shorts International category, offering audiences a glimpse into the diverse narratives and creative visions emerging from Bangladesh's vibrant film industry.
"A Letter of Postmaster" is a poignant adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore's timeless short story "Postmaster", with Ratan as its central character. Garnering accolades with two festival best awards already under its belt, this film promises to enthrall viewers with its emotive storytelling. Scheduled for screening at 11:00 am on the third day of the festival (March 16), it is poised to leave a lasting impression on audiences.
On the fourth day of the Nepal International Film Festival (March 17) at 4:00 pm, "Joy Bangla", crafted by the talented Shaila Rahman Tithi and featuring dialogues and screenplay by Sajin Ahmed Babu, will take center stage. With a stellar cast including Tariq Anam Khan and Farzana Chumki, this film is set to captivate audiences with its powerful narrative and compelling performances.
Rounding off the showcase of Bangladeshi talent is the dialogue-less cinematic masterpiece, "Everything is Nothing", directed by Arafat Mohsin. With a runtime of 21 minutes, this thought-provoking film will grace the screens on the festival's closing day (March 18) at 1:30 pm, leaving audiences spellbound with its evocative visuals and profound storytelling.
