Manon Reja Neer is the youngest International Master (IM) of the country breaking Niaz Morshed's record
He became the national champion last July at the age of 14. But Neer did not want to stop there, the dream was to achieve something bigger.
On the way to fulfill that dream, this teenager from Narayanganj has become an International Master from FIDE Master. Neer has broken records of Grandmaster (GM) Niaz Morshed on his way to becoming an International Master (IM).
Niaz was born on May 13, 1966. He became IM on 13 October 1981 after playing Asian Zonal in Sharjah.
He became an IM at 15 years and 5 months. Received FIDE's certificate in 1982. Neer was born on 18 June 2010. Now he is 14 years and 3 months old. IM requires 2400 rating and three norms. Neer's rating is now more than 2400. As a result, he does not have to wait to officially get the title.
Neer secured six points from eight games in the GM competition held in Hungary on Friday. That is his third and last International norm.
In the eighth round, this chess player won against India's IM Panda Sumit. This victory came to him as a big turning point in achieving his goals. Not only that, Neer will also become Norm's first GM if he defeats Hungary's Pegestos Blajas on Saturday.
