The students, faculty members, and authorities of Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB) formed human chain demanding justice for the recent rape of baby Samia Afrin Saima, the sibling of one of the NDUB students.

Protesting against the countrywide child harassment, rape, and murder and demanding quick justice of the rape and murder of Saima, the students organized this human chain.

The human chain was formed in front of the main gate of NDUB at 12pm on Sunday. Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Father Patrick D Gaffney, CSC, Registrar Adam S Pereira, CSC, department chairs, faculty members, students and staff took part in the human chain.

Registrar Fr Adam S Pereira, CSC said that rape and murder are crimes which are on the rise day by day. We want our children to live in Bangladesh safely. We hope that the justice of Saima’s rape and murder will be at the quickest hour.

VC Professor Gaffney says that Saima’s murder is a very tragic incident. We want justice of those connected with her murder.

Rasel Ahmod, a student of department of English said, “We want the capital punishment to be dawned upon Harun, the murderer and rapist. The police haven’t yet filed their charge-sheet against Saima’s rape. We demand for the quick submission of the charge-sheet. Today, children are not safe on the streets and even at home because of such pervert criminals. Policy-makers should come up with an effective resolution considering the issue as their prime concern.”
