National symposium on research and innovation for social impact held at DU

The Institute of Education and Research (IER) of Dhaka University (DU) hosted a significant national symposium today, March 3, 2024, titled "Research and Innovation for Social Impact: IER’s Recent Contributions to Education." The event, held at IER, aimed to spotlight the institution's pivotal role in advancing education through research and innovation.

Presided over by the esteemed Vice-Chancellor of DU, Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal, the inaugural session witnessed the esteemed presence of Education Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury, MP, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. Distinguished personalities including Chairman of Bangladesh Accreditation Council Prof. Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed and Professor of IER Dr. M. Wahiduzzaman also addressed the gathering as special guests. In his welcome address, the Director of IER, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Halim, extended a warm welcome to all attendees and highlighted the significance of the symposium in fostering educational excellence through research and innovation.

Education Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury, MP, emphasized the importance of collaboration with experts from IER to implement the new curriculum and revolutionize the traditional mindset towards education. 

He underlined the successful introduction of the new curriculum at the Primary and Secondary levels, aimed at producing skilled human resources and fostering a knowledge-based society. 

The minister expressed confidence that the revamped teaching and learning systems embedded in the new curriculum would enable students to enhance their learning experience and unleash their creativity.

The symposium served as a platform for educators, policymakers, and researchers to exchange insights and strategies towards harnessing research and innovation for societal advancement.

The event concluded on a high note, reflecting the collective commitment towards leveraging education as a catalyst for positive social change.
