National Library Day-2024 was celebrated at Chittagong University (CU) and Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) with the theme “Read books in libraries, build smart Bangladesh”.
CUET Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam was present as chief guest at the academic council room of the university on Tuesday morning.
Librarian Md Abdur Khalek Sarkar presided over the meeting. Dean of Faculty of Civil and Environment Engineering Prof. Dr. Sudeep Kumar Pal, Dean of Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering Prof. Dr. Mohammad Samsul Arefin, Dean of Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Prof. Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Dean of Architecture and Planning Faculty Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rashidul Hasan and Director of Student Welfare Department Prof. Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim were present as special guests.
The programme was conducted by Deputy Librarian Mohammad Nasiruzzaman. A documentary on smart management and overall activities of the library was presented at the beginning of the programme.
Besides these, Chittagong University (CU) brought out a colourful rally from CU Central Library premises and ended at Shaheed Minar on Monday morning. Chittagong University (CU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shireen Akhtar led the rally.
After the rally, a short discussion meeting was held on the CU central Shaheed Minar premises. CU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shireen Akhtar spoke as the chief guest and CU Pro VC (Academic) Prof. Benu Kumar Dey delivered his speech as special guest.
